I’m the first to admit that I’m not that into my music. I couldn’t tell you who’s in the charts and why someone feels the need to fight some foo but I think I can at least tell when something is truly offensive to listen to.
There’s this band that my brother seems to love, showering them with praise, lauding them and even comparing them to The Beatles. I don’t like The Beatles but I can at least acknowledge that they knew their shit. These vampire tools don’t deserve the air their music gets played in.
The singer uses autotune, every sound is a combination of 3 second loops and the lyrics are incomprehensible. They’re the kind of band who would condemn dubstep and other edm because it’s no talent music. These guys couldn’t play their way out of a room full of deaf down syndrome suffering thalidomide kids.
The fact that people have paid for this kind of music makes me sick to the core. There are people with more talent on the side of the street. The only thing that makes this tolerable is knowing that my brother denied them a sale by renting the CD from the library and ripping it at home. The idiot doesn’t consider that piracy but there you go, that’s the intellect of the fan base.
I do find it embarrassing that my brother seems to be the standard for music listeners today. I like underground stuff but I don’t force it on people. My brother is quite… forceful… when it comes to encouraging ones musical choices.
I weep for the future.
